Full-time: Day shift; 55hours/weekly; Saturdays if team is working

Salary: Negotiable depending upon experience

 

PJF is seeking a self-motivated, technical Production Manager/Supervisor to work closely with our engineering and manufacturing teams. The ideal candidate will have had exposure in a multitude of areas such as: manufacturing, CNC-machining, forming, and leadership/supervision. As well, they must possess an even temperament to manage high pressure and stressful situations. They must be able to lead by example, set boundaries and limits as needed, possess an ability to resolve conflict, and have the ability to teach, train and share knowledge and information to others.

 

 

Role Summary

The production manager is involved from the beginning of projects starting with initial production release through final shipment. There is exposure to a variety of machines, materials, and processes as products are manufactured from various materials.

This candidate will further manage the departments through supervising the activities of assigned personnel, and ensuring successful completion of all tooling and engineering changes. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, ability and essential duties required to successfully perform this job. This position will be for our facility located in Rockford, Michigan.

Skills:

  • Must have ability to pass on information and properly educate others on various machining practices and maintain customer required due dates

  • Understands and has extensive knowledge/experience in fixture design and construction

  • Must possess team leadership/supervisory skills, work well in a team environment, and have good communication skills

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working with multiple people and various departments to meet production goals and due dates

  • Assisting in engineering change process

  • Assisting in developing team focused goals

  • Implementing Quality Management techniques

  • Working with management team to identify and implement continuous improvement strategies

  • Managing a team of 35 highly skilled technicians

  • Work with night shift supervisor to keep on track of due dates

 

Managerial Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all policies, procedures and processes meet business unit and company objectives

  • Maintain an outlook for developing and implementing improvement plans to increase manufacturing yield

  • Work with outsource suppliers as needed to maintain delivery dates/expectations

  • Maintaining a safe work environment

  • Possess the ability to problem solve all fixture issues that arise and follow through with decisions

  • Providing training and cross training of operators in proper techniques and procedures

  • Leading by example in the areas of attitude, quality and safety

  • Participate in daily production team meetings with Engineers to understand job priority

  • Set Saturday schedule/hours for all shop floor personnel

  • Willingness and availability to be on call at all times to solve shop issues that may arise

  • Using visual management techniques

  • Participate in interviewing of potential employees and be included in the hiring/firing/corrective-measure processes for employee needs

  • Performing employee performance appraisals and annual reviews establishing corrective action plans as needed

  • Reviewing and approving employee attendance/vacation

  • Implementing job rotation, enlargement and enrichment

  • Promoting employee empowerment and growth

 

Qualifications:

  • 5 years of related experience desired, but high levels of managerial skills are more important

  • Leadership seminars and/or coursework is a plus

  • Ability to read and interpret technical mechanical drawings

  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills

  • Excellent technical communication skills

  • Initiative for product/process improvement

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be eligible to work on programs subject to ITAR Regulations. Therefore, candidates must be a U.S. Citizen or a U.S. Permanent Resident ('Green Card').

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $35.00 per hour
